    Dear Millwood Families,

    We are off to a great start here at Millwood!  We were extremely encouraged that we started our school year with 100% of the teachers needed to staff every classroom.  Given the statewide teacher shortage, this was no small feat.   We will continue to work to provide all children with the necessary support, inspiration and guidance to be their very best every day!
     

    As many of you all have likely heard, the test scores from the State Assessment have been released to the public.  It was predicted that the state as a whole would take a huge hit in regards to the percentages of students scoring advanced or proficient on the test.  This dramatic shift in outcomes is directly due to a change in our state standards as well as a change in the way proficiency levels are determined.   These changes were necessary to align the state assessment with the ACT or SAT and the National Assessment (NAEP).  Although the scores look bad now, it is actually just a starting point for the state on the new direction, and parents can expect to see gradual improvement.   Scores at Millwood were not spared this fate, as our scores took a sharp decline as well.  We will be revealing the scores to the public at our next Board meeting scheduled for November 6, 2017.
     

    In order to continue with our improvement efforts, we will also be undergoing an accreditation visit from AdvancED on November 13-14.  This visit will include a self-assessment performed by our leadership team as well as a visit from an eternal evaluation team. There will be parent and community meetings as well during this visit. This team will confirm our assessment and/or make recommendations for overall improvement.  At the conclusion of the visit we will either be granted accreditation or be given recommendations to achieve full accreditation.
      

    Please know that we continue to work hard to ensure that 100% or our kids are college and/or career ready and that we are committed to ensuring that every child improves, every day!

    Child Find Notice


    Child Find Notice is a public service awareness endeavor provided by the special education department of the Millwood Public School District. Its purpose is to locate, evaluate and identify children from ages three through twenty-one who live within the district’s boundaries and who may have disabilities as defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). A child with a disability means a child has been evaluated and determined eligible for special education and related services in accordance with IDEA under the following categories:

    Autism                                    Specific Learning Disability

    Deaf/Hearing Impairment      Traumatic Brian Injury

    Deaf/Blindness                       Visual Impairment (including blindness)

    Emotional Disturbance           Orthopedic Impairment
