Message from the Superintendent
Cecilia J. Robinson-Woods
Welcome! We are so excited to begin our 2017-18 school year with you and your child(ren)! We hope that you and your family had a very restful, relaxing and productive summer. We are fired up for the new school year and look forward to accomplishing great things at Millwood, where our mission is to ensure that all students are prepared both academically and socially for lifelong learning.
Millwood Public Schools heads into this year with a sense of accomplishment knowing that we have worked hard to ensure that our Five Bold Goals from our strategic plan led our work last year and therefore provides a foundation for this coming year.
Our Five Bold Goals are:
1.Readiness in the Early Years
2.Self Responsibility and Self Development
3.Student Voice, Engagement and Leadership
4.Mastery of Core Subjects
5.Persistence to High School Graduation
Our hard work towards our goals paid off tremendously as we are elated to announce that our third grade Reading Proficiency scores have risen from 35% meeting goal in 2013 to over 80% meeting goal in 2017! This amazing accomplishment would not have been possible without the amazing MELA (Millwood Elementary Learning Academy) Staff, students and parents. We are so proud of our kids!
Our theme for this year is Millwood Strong. As I head into my 5th year as Superintendent of Millwood Public Schools, I acknowledge that our road to success and accomplishment hasn’t been an easy one. However, I also know that we as a community have the strength to endure and persevere so that 100% of our students are college and/or career ready when they graduate.
As always, I want to thank you, the families, for trusting us with your most prized possession, your child(ren). We are humbled to have the honor, and will do our best to ensure that your child(ren) reaches their full potential!
